Presenting.....(dah dah dddahhh)

I now have a pair of socks!!!! It has been a whole 3 months since I started sock knitting and I finally have my first pair of socks. Mind you I only had to knit the one and the other was created by Shara. I just love the colors and they are soooo soft and warm. It took me 3 tries to start them, first time I was knitting too tight, 2nd too loose and 3rd I knit the way I normally do and low and behold a perfect match. Mental note for next time try it the way I normally knit first!!

Time to finish Justice's other sock, the clock is ticking and still have to finish hubby's scarf(1/4 left) and Jordan's scarf. Can she do it, even if it takes me to Christmas eve plugging away there will be one knitted item for everyone.

Back to knitting, ohh and I better finish making supper too.

One sock done!

Just a quick post, I finished one of Justice's socks. I was hoping to have the pair done today but yesterday was a write off. Just to pooped from the day before knitting that scarf I guess. I'm about to cast on for the second and will cast on for my SSSS sock tonight too. My swap partner Shara finished her sock yesterday and I now have sock envy. I must have a pair for Christmas if it is the last thing I knit!!!!

Quick update

I have FO's, wahoooo!!! I finished my crochet exchange squares on Friday and mailed them. I even included a bonus square in each package of a granny square with a crocheted Christmas tree on it to celebrate the holidays. I also made one for my Aunt Margaret who is just the coolest lady. I haven't met her in person but have talked to her on the phone alot, at least twice a week for more than 1/2 hour per call. She was my inspiration to get started on socks and even went as far as to send me a starter stash of sock yarn and as many older pattern books for socks that she could lay her hands on. I'm very grateful to her for everything that she has done for us.

Besides my crochet squares I knitted a few dishclothes which I'm sending to my Aunt along with a scarf. Since our Aunt Margaret has been so generous to our family this Christmas with all the handknit sweaters she made she got behind on her knitting for the other family members. She normally sends Rob's Aunt Shannon a scarf and a pair of socks for Christmas, well this year she doesn't have time to get the scarf done so I'm going to surprise her by sending this scarf I whipped up to send to Shannon. I used Lionbrand Woolease on 9mm needles, started this baby around 2pm today and finished at 9:30pm and it's 4 feet long. I tell you those needles were flying, now only if I could knit a pair of socks that quick ;-). Here's a pick, I knitted it using the basketweave stitch(first time) and turned out very well.

I also started another pair of socks for Justice for Christmas. I'm knitting the heel but put it down this afternoon to get the scarf done. I'll get the one sock done tomorrow and cast on for its mate tomorrow evening(cross your fingers). Here's a pic of the progress. I'm using Paton's Kroy yarn and 3mm needles, Justice picked the color. We do love our variegated socks in this house. I really love this colorway and will have to find myself a couple balls, hubby also wants a pair too.

Well that's all for now, bedtime.

Don't forget to sign up for SP7!!!!

Hi Secret Pal(wave), I'm still waiting for your reveal!

I Can Knit Again, My Quilts are Done!!!!!!

This is a belated post. I finally finished the four rag quilts late Monday night, not to bad for timing since I had budgeted 2 weeks to complete them and it only took one :-) , Sweet, back to knitting. Here's the pics of the 4 quilts after 2 washes, sooo soft, you gotta love flannel. I went with the tartan theme for everyone since they are all Scottish. I even have some extra flannel left for a quilt for myself but that can wait till the New Year.

Tuesday was a blahh day, didn't feel like doing much, a little burnt out from all the quilting(I sewed up two quilts on Monday plus, cut and wash them all before bedtime at 1:30 am.) So, to get back into the knitting groove I whipped up a Christmas tree dishcloth in the afternoon. The rest of the week has been spent crocheting my squares for my monthly exchange, will send those out tomorrow along with the quilts.

In SP6 news, I revealed myself to my pal, Kat (wave*) on the weekend when she received my final package. We have exchanged emails through out this SP and I had a great time spoiling her and I'm hoping we stay in touch. Thanks to her I actually did a swatch for my SSSS sock(Dublin Bay Sock) and it came out great and actually fit.

Now for some SP7 news, yes you read correctly, SP7 is now taking sign ups, check it out, I am one of the hostesses this round. Loved SP6 soooo much couldn't help but sign up for a hostess this round. Sign up before January 4, 2006 and don't be left out in the cold.

Here's another quiz that best describes me.

You Have a Melancholic Temperament

Introspective and reflective, you think about everything and anything.

You are a soft-hearted daydreamer. You long for your ideal life.

You love silence and solitude. Everyday life is usually too chaotic for you.

Given enough time alone, it's easy for you to find inner peace.

You tend to be spiritual, having found your own meaning of life.

Wise and patient, you can help people through difficult times.

At your worst, you brood and sulk. Your negative thoughts can trap you.

You are reserved and withdrawn. This makes it hard to connect to others.

You tend to over think small things, making decisions difficult.

Long time no post (I have Mail!!)

Look what I picked up yesterday, a package from my SP6. The box is handpainted in a blue/green and hint of yellow, perfect colors because we have snow here and it is a tad cold. This is what was inside the box. Beautifully wrapped green presents tied with raffia, doesn't it make you think of spring. Inside these packages are(drum roll please) a vanilla scented bag which now has a home in my sock yarn container, candle gift tags, handmade by my pal, one is on its way to my inlaws and another to our Aunt Margaret who is a hardcore knitter, a purple flower soap (love the scent), a handmade flower keychain(had to fight my little guys for it but it did end up on my keys), a knitting needle gauge(perfect because I most of my dpns have no packages). I also received a scrap book which matches my address book I bought this summer(how did you know? I think I will use it to keep track of my knitting/crochet projects since I do take pics of the Fo's and don't forget my quilting projects too), an X's and O's game which barely got it's pic taken, my little guys were hovering over me like buzzards wanting to play, two containers, one with green sequins and the other green beads(I am seeing more stitch markers in my future), a set of quilting pins which was perfect timing because in the background of these pics are one of the rag quilts I am working on and they went to work right after I snapped my pics and finished fondling the yarn. Last but not least 10 gorgeous balls of Soft' Hair a mohair/wool/acrylic blend in a gorgeous green. The pics don't do it justice, it is sooo soft and I have never worked with mohair before and this would make a nice sweater. Right after Christmas I will start hunting for the perfect sweater pattern for my yarn. I would love to thank my Secret Pal for making my first SP experience memorable, Thank you sooo much for the wonderful gifts and I hope your SP was as good to you as you were to me. I'm looking forward to the reveal. PS. the batting is now under my little guys Christmas tree they made.

Now onto the FO's, I finished Collin's socks on Tuesday, here's a pic.

I was sneaky and tried them on him when he was sleeping. Finished one of my rag quilts pics to follow and got most of my squares ready to put together. I have a total of 4 rag quilts to make this week and lucky for me it was only two days, not full days either of cutting. They are twin sized(good size lap quilts) for Rob's Mom, Dad, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Dave. I want to finish these before next weekend so I can finish my knitting projects, still have to finish my scarf for hubby, socks for Jordan and Justice and mitts and possibly a scarf or socks for my sister. Cross your knitting needles and hope I can get done in time.

Back to quilting.
